VKVP Haulage Ltd, the Felixstowe-based supply chain services provider, recently purchased five new Renault Trucks T480 6x2 tractor units for its mixed fleet of 80 vehicles. The T480s are equipped with Renault Trucks Turbo Compound technology for improved fuel efficiency, a key reason for their selection. They join 33 65-plate 11-litre Range T460 6x2 used trucks that VKVP acquired in 2020. The new T480s are the first of 22 the company ordered as part of its fleet upgrade and will serve routes across the UK out of docks in Felixstowe, London Gateway, and Southampton.
High-Tech Efficiency
VKVP’s T480s are fitted with sleeper cabs and are powered by Renault’s latest DE13 TC engine with Turbo Compound technology for lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon emissions. The new generation Optidriver gearbox AT2812 has a new calculator, new control software, and a new clutch actuator to produce quicker, smoother gear shifts. Eco Cruise Control with Optiroll and Smart Torque Control maximises fuel savings.
Cruise Control has two modes, Eco On and Eco Off. The default Eco On adjusts driving operations such as acceleration, gear change, speed regulation, and deceleration to optimise fuel consumption. A Pulse and Glide mode further improves efficiency by maintaining vehicle speed near the Cruise Control setting (+/- 2km / h).
“An Obvious Choice”
“We’ve been working with Renault Trucks for a few years and the service has always been spot-on,” says VKVP Managing Director Vladislav Pantelej. “I was looking to upgrade the fleet, so when I heard that a new turbo compound engine had been released, it was an obvious choice for me to switch to the new, more fuel-efficient models.”
