Cheshire-Based Demolition & Excavation Firm Chooses Volvo FMX Tipper Trucks

Cheshire Demolitions and Excavations Contractors Ltd., based in Macclesfield, Cheshire, recently purchased two Volvo FMX 8x4 tipper trucks. The company already has four Volvo trucks in its fleet of 20 vehicles and its drivers are so pleased with them that it plans to order two more for 2020. Each of the trucks has a Volvo D11K Euro-6 engine that produces 410 horsepower and 1,960 newton-metres of torque, as well as an I-Shift 12-speed automated transmission. They feature Boweld Taperlite tipper bodies on the Extra-High B-ride chassis and have payload capacities of 19,900 kilograms. They also feature day cabs with Drive FM packages, straight-beam front axles, brushed aluminum rims, and an Xvision recording system with four cameras.

    Important Support

Cheshire Demolitions runs its trucks seven days a week and puts an average of 120,000 kilometers on them annually. Because the company’s vehicles mostly operate locally, it was important to have a strong relationship with a nearby dealer, and Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd. is able to deliver on that by way of its Middlewich location.

“Backup from the supplying dealerpoint is crucial for our business,” says Neil Trueman, contracts manager at Cheshire Demolitions. “We have been let down by our original supplier in the past, but now we can take the trucks into Thomas Hardie Commercials in the evening and they will be ready to collect, first thing the following morning. That arrangement means we maximise productivity, with no loss of working time. That is the level of support our business requires.”
