Somerset-Based CRS Building Supplies Replaces Half Of Its 3.5-Tonne Truck Fleet With Seven Isuzu Grafter N35.125 Tippers

CRS Building Supplies Ltd, an independent building supplies company based in Glastonbury, Somerset, recently added seven Isuzu Grafter N35.125 tipper trucks to its fleet, in the process replacing half of its fleet of 3.5-tonne vehicles. Supplied by Harry Moore Commercials of Exeter, all of the trucks are outfitted with TGS tipper bodies and have several upgrades for enhanced visibility, including a proximity cab mirror, wide-angle cab mirrors, and cameras.

The N35.125s have payload capacities of 1,100 kilograms (2,425 pounds) and CRS will use them to transport aggregates, sand, stone, and other materials to its customers from one of the company’s many depots. The plan is to keep them in operation for four years, but that figure “could be extended up to eight years,” Isuzu explains. In addition to performance and fuel efficiency benefits, the company also opted for Isuzu trucks because they meet proposed Clean Air Zone requirements, which, Isuzu says, “allows CRS Building Supplies to future-proof its urban distribution fleet by planning for this future legislation.”

    Needs Fulfilled

“We needed a more robust truck to cope with the increased demands for bulk deliveries on our 3.5-tonne trucks but also a vehicle that will future-proof us in advance of the forthcoming Clean Air Zones in both Bath and Bristol,” says CRS Transport Manager Paul Gibbard. “Following a demonstration from our local dealer Harry Moore Commercials, we were really impressed by the Isuzu offering at this GVW. During the two-week demo period, the Isuzu Grafter passed its technical evaluation with flying colours. We were also really impressed by the overall build quality, especially the running gear and the cab, which gave great visibility and could incorporate our preferred mirror setup.”

    Isuzu Grafter N35.125 Details

The Isuzu Grafter N35.125 is a 4x2 rigid chassis cab with a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs) and a maximum trailer weight of 3,500 kg, as well. This model is also available with a dropside body, tipper body, or with a tipper body and toolpod in the N35.125(T) Utilitruck configuration. The N35.125 tippers, along with several other models, are available with single or twin rear wheels. All of the models in the range feature Isuzu RZ4E turbo intercooled DOHC four-cylinder diesel engines with lean NOx (nitrogen oxide) traps and manual transmissions.
