Repsol Honda MotoGP Race Team Selects IVECO S-WAY Long-Haul Truck To Support European Race Schedule

IVECO recently announced that the Repsol Honda MotoGP race team has chosen to use an IVECO S-WAY long-haul truck to support its race operations for this season and the next one. (Photo courtesy of IVECO.)

High performance, reliability, fuel efficiency, low operating costs, and connectivity are among the reasons why the Repsol Honda MotoGP race team chose IVECO’s award-winning S-WAY truck to support its race efforts the next two seasons in Europe. Billed as MotoGP’s most successful team ever, Repsol Honda’s S-WAY will bear the team’s livery and will transport spare parts, tools, and other equipment that riders Marc Márquez and Alex Márquez rely on. Billed as a “100% connected, driver-centric” truck, IVECO designed the S-WAY specifically for long-haul operations.

    The Race Circuit

Besides hauling equipment, Repsol Honda’s new IVECO tractor unit will transport trailers that convert into portable offices and rest areas at race venues. The team will use the truck to support 14 races during the season, which begins in mid-July with the Jerez GP and ends in mid-November with the Valencia GP. IVECO notes the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the suspension of some European races.

Among other features, the team’s S-WAY comes with Microsoft Azure cloud connectivity that links the truck to the team’s Control Room where experts monitor data, perform remote diagnostics, and other tasks to enhance performance and anticipate maintenance requirements. The truck also boasts a redesigned driver-centric cabin and an aerodynamic design that IVECO says leads to 4% in fuel savings. Also onboard are advanced driver assistance technologies, driving style evaluation systems, and an advanced Connectivity Box developed with Microsoft that gives owners and operators access to logistics information.
