London Tool Hire Firm Revamps Fleet With Six Isuzu Grafter Dropside Rigid Trucks

Tool hire company The Hireman recently acquired six new Isuzu Grafter N35.125 dropside rigids to deliver tools and equipment to the London area and surrounding counties. The 3.5-tonne trucks were the first Isuzu models in the company’s 35-strong distribution fleet.

“Now that we have had these six Grafters working daily within our fleet for a while, the decision to switch to Isuzu for the first time has certainly been vindicated as we are extremely pleased with their operational performance out on the road,” says The Hireman Managing Director Neil Graham.

Compact & No Need For Ad Blue

“The Isuzu Grafter has really captured our attention for many reasons,” Graham says. “As well as being fully Euro VI-compliant, which is essential here in London, the Grafter stood out in terms of having a compact footprint yet provides an excellent payload of over 1 tonne. Also, and quite uniquely, it does not require Ad Blue.”

The firm’s new Grafters are fitted with bespoke TGS dropside bodies and rear tail lifts, and are further configured with Isuzu’s Easyshift automatic transmission to provide a pleasant driving experience for the company’s delivery drivers in heavy London traffic.

The Goods On The Grafter

The Isuzu Grafter N35.125 is a 4x2 rigid chassis cab with a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kilograms (7,716 pounds) and a 3,500-kg maximum trailer weight, as well. This model is also available with a chassis cab, a tipper body, or with a tipper body and toolpod in the N35.125(T) Utilitruck configuration. All of the models in the range feature Isuzu RZ4E turbo intercooled DOHC four-cylinder diesel engines with lean NOx (nitrogen oxide) traps and come with manual transmissions as standard. Customers who wish to do so can spec them with the optional Easyshift automatic transmission.
