New Renault C430 Tipper Handles Muck Away & Aggregate Jobs For T J Transport
T J Transport recently added the first Renault truck to its 100-plus vehicle bulk haulage fleet, a C430 with a Thompson Loadmaster steel tipping body. This truck was brought on specifically to complement the firm’s existing aluminium-bodied tipper fleet.
“Our existing aluminium-bodied vehicles are unsuitable for muck away jobs,” says TJ Transport Fleet Manager Lee Downer. “By adding the Renault Truck with its steel body, it gives us more flexibility, allowing us to enhance our muck away capability as well as carry aggregates.”
Strong Recommendations For Renault
The new Renault C430 was a Ready 4 Business option from T J Transport’s dealer Sparks Commercials, meaning the dealer offered the tipping body with immediate availability. “We have a fantastic relationship with the team at Sparks that goes way back with our waste trailer fleet,” Downer says. “They’ve always been knocking on the door with the Renault Trucks tippers.”
T J Transport also heard endorsements about the Renault brand from other professionals. “We work with a lot of subcontractors who use Renault Trucks and whose livelihoods depend on reliable vehicles that don’t let them down,” says Downer. “They have faith in the brand and so we thought we would take the plunge.”
The Renault C430
The Renault Range C (the “C” stands for “construction”) comes in day, day/night, and sleeper cab variants in gross vehicle weights of 18 to 32 tonnes (20 to 35 U.S. tons). It’s available with 11- or 13-litre diesel engines rated for 380 to 520 horsepower (283 to 388 kilowatts), and Renault recently announced the addition of Euro 6 Step engines to minimise fuel consumption. Renault’s C430 tipper is based on an 8x4 rigid featuring a 430-HP (320-kW) 11-litre engine with an Optidriver AT 2612F gearbox. The latter improves both the truck’s on-road performance and control. The Thompsons Loadmaster steel tipping body features an air-operated, automated tailgate that improves operator safety and productivity by letting drivers stay in the cab when unloading.
