MJ Slater Acquires New Actros Edition 2, Scores Limited-Edition Mercedes-Benz Hat Trick
MJ Slater’s fleet of premium trucks includes a three-year-old Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 1, a one-year-old Actros Edition 2, and a brand-new Actros Edition 2. The latter will be driven by long-serving driver Leszek Kozyra, who appreciates the amenities found in the limited-edition truck. “My new cab has all the home comforts I could wish for and it looks great too,” he says. “The Edition 2 is a real driver’s truck.”
Special Drivers, Special Trucks
Based in Carlisle, MJ Slater provides specialised haulage services across the UK, and the firm’s drivers are well-acquainted with life on the road. “Our work means the lads are almost always away all week, every week—they spend more time in the cab than they do at home, so we want to make the living experience as comfortable as possible for them,” says Managing Director Mick Slater.
The GigaSpace cab inside MJ Slater’s new Actros Edition 2 features stitched black Nappa leather, eight colours of ambient lighting, and drivers’ suspension seats with climate and massage functions. When the day is done, Kozyra can relax in the comfort sleeper cab, which includes a rear wall locker system, microwave oven, and flat-screen TV.

The Edition 2 offers MJ Slater the latest and greatest in Mercedes-Benz driver assistance technology. Just a few of its cutting-edge features include the newest version of Predictive Powertrain Control (a technology that manages gear changes to optimise fuel economy), Proximity Control Assist, and Active Brake Assist 5. “They’re such smart-looking trucks and very good on fuel too, even with loads that are always heavy and usually far from aerodynamic,” Slater says.
