Iveco Bus recently won its third Sustainable Bus of the Year award in the intercity category for the Crossway LE (Low Entry) Hybrid CNG bus. Iveco Bus won previously in 2018 for the Low Entry Crossway and in 2020 for the Natural Gas-Powered Crossway. The goal of the awards is to establish a positive image of buses amongst the public to encourage their usage. The Sustainable Bus Award, launched in 2016, considers safety, comfort, noise, recyclability of components, and the manufacturer’s general environmental commitment. Winners are picked by a jury with representatives from France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, the UK, Romania, and Spain.

About The Crossway Low Entry Hybrid Natural Gas Bus

The biomethane-compatible Crossway Low Entry Hybrid Natural Gas bus is designed to offer an alternative for regions, counties, and cities looking for transportation solutions that work with energy transition projects. The bus saves up to 15% on fuel compared to the diesel variant and reduces carbon emissions by up to 82% with renewable fuels.

    A New Partnership

Iveco Bus also recently launched a collaboration with transit tech company Via after signing a memorandum of understanding last July. The companies will offer Iveco Bus customers in Italy the ability to purchase software for on-demand transport solutions from its dealer network beginning in early 2023. The partnership will explore additional solutions for public transport authorities and operators such as demand-responsive transportation, autonomous public transport powered by alternative energies, and autonomous on-demand shuttles.

“This third Award reaffirms Iveco Bus’ position as the European leader in the intercity segment and confirms Iveco Group’s commitment to sustainable mobility,” says Iveco Group Bus Business Unit President Domenico Nucera. (Photo courtesy of Iveco Group.)

“This third award reaffirms Iveco Bus’ position as the European leader in the intercity segment and confirms Iveco Group’s commitment to sustainable mobility,” says Iveco Group Bus Business Unit President Domenico Nucera. “Together with the first outcome of the partnership with Via, they prove that Iveco Bus steadily pursues the evolution from a traditional business to a future strongly marked by the trends that are revolutionising the passenger transport sector, such as energy transition and new business models.”
