Ridgway Rentals Adds Pair Of 70-Tonne T520 Tractor Units To Renault-Heavy Fleet

Plant hire firm Ridgway Rentals Ltd recently acquired two new 70-tonne (77-U.S.-ton) T520 6x2 tag axle tractor units from Renault Trucks to serve as replacement vehicles in its fleet of 10 (mostly Renault) trucks. The T520 sleeper cabs are decked out in Ridgway’s blue and white livery and will transport heavy plant machinery such as excavators and bulldozers to locations across the nation.

“With an increased demand for our services, we are extremely busy,” says Ridgway Rentals Director Rob Jones. “The new vehicles have been brought in to replace older stock and to ensure that we have the very best fleet to meet our customers’ needs. We also have our local Renault Trucks dealer, Perrys of Gobowen, on our doorstep so that repair and maintenance is stress-free.”

About The T520

The T520s are equipped with the ATO 2612F gearbox, which has been reinforced for heavy-duty operation with an automatic clutch. The trucks are fitted with Alcoa brushed matte aluminium wheels, a four-point cab air suspension with ride-height control system, and twin roof-mounted air horns. For operator comfort, the cab features other available options such as air conditioning, a fridge, one-touch electric windows, a leather steering wheel, and Roadpad+. To ensure operator safety, the trucks have LED lights as standard along with features such as anti-runaway mode, hill start assistance, and lane departure warning.

The trucks are on the road four nights a week and the drivers give rave reviews of the comfort of the cab and the bed, according to Jones. The trucks have also caught the eye of locals when they are out. “The trucks are also becoming local celebrities! Winning ‘Best Shropshire Truck’ at The Whitchurch Truck show and they are regularly photographed on the move and posted by truck spotters on social media,” says Jones. “Seeing the vehicles looking so impressive and celebrated by others is the icing on the cake!”
