Upholstered Furniture Manufacturer Updates Delivery Fleet With 4 New Renault T440 Tractor Units

Posted On: Monday 6 March 2023

“Our drivers love the new T440s, they are fantastic to drive and have an extremely well-equipped cab for life on the road,” says Buoyant Upholstery Commercial Director Hans Jansen. (Photo courtesy of Renault.)

The three Renault T380s working in Buoyant Upholstery Ltd’s fleet since 2019 have provided exactly what the furniture manufacturer wants in a delivery truck: performance and reliability. As a result, Buoyant Upholstery returned to Renault when updating its fleet, selecting four T440 4x2 tractor units with sleeper cabs. Buoyant Upholstery recently received the new T440s and has put them into operation three nights a week. Commercial Director Hans Jansen says early feedback has been positive.

“Our drivers love the new T440s, they are fantastic to drive and have an extremely well-equipped cab for life on the road,” says Jansen. “They are especially pleased with the more powerful 440-horsepower [328-kilowatt] engines, the automatic gearbox, and the comfort and safety features on board.”

    Power Meets Comfort

Renault’s T440 is powered by a 13-litre DE 440 engine that delivers its 2,200 newton-metres (1,622 pounds-foot) of maximum torque at 900 rpm. To simplify life for drivers and crew, the Optidriver AT 2612F gearbox offers the convenience of an automatic clutch, and the well-equipped cab provides premium comfort on the road. Just a few of the amenities include a four-point cab air suspension with ride height control, heated and ventilated seats, and a multimedia screen. The T440 also boasts enhanced safety technology and driver assistance tools like Renault’s Eco cruise control with Optiroll, front and side recording cameras, and RoadPad+ navigation.

Each of the four T440s has a 405-litre tank and a 900-Ltank, giving Buoyant Upholstery drivers more driving time between refuelling stops. (Photo courtesy of Renault.)

    Range T Configurations

Renault’s Range T series trucks are available in a wide variety of day and sleeper cabs and in 4x2 or 6x2 axle configurations to fit exacting long-distance hauling requirements. Customers can configure the truck with DE 11, DE 13, or DE 13 Turbo Compound engines. All engine options benefit from Renault’s patented Wave Piston technology, improvements to reduce engine friction, and other refinements that collectively help reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 10%.

Buoyant Upholstery configures its T440 trucks with a 405-L (107-gallon) tank on the right and a second, 900-L (238-gal) tank on the left so they can fuel up just once before leaving the depot.
