SFS Flooring Supplies Adds IVECO Daily Hi-Matic To Their Fleet

SFS Flooring Supplies, a contract flooring distributor based in Langley, recently added an IVECO Daily Hi-Matic chassis cab to its fleet. The 7.2-tonne 72C18HA8 vehicle features a 3.0-litre Euro 6 engine that produces 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts) and 430 newton-metres (317 pounds-foot) of torque, an eight-speed automatic transmission, Solent Bodybuilders curtain side bodywork, and a Del tuck-away tail lift.

SFS chose the Daily Hi-Matic following a short test drive of a demonstrator model. One reason is the vehicle’s payload capacity, which IVECO says is “greater than many 7.5-tonners.” Another is that the transmission can “lower repair and maintenance costs by 10% vs. a standard manual gearbox,” IVECO adds.

A Worthy Replacement

SFS Flooring Supplies’ newest vehicle replaces its previous 3.5-tonne vans, and it will deliver flooring supplies in London and beyond. SFS plans to keep the vehicle in operation for five years while putting on roughly 40,000 kilometres (a little under 25,000 miles) per year. The Daily Hi-Matic comes with a five-year repair and maintenance package, and Heathrow-based IVECO Retail will handle maintenance responsibilities.

The Right Vehicle For The Job

“I wanted our first vehicle above 3.5 tonnes to be reliable and able to carry our largest products without any fuss. I’d read positive reviews about the IVECO Daily’s performance and once behind the wheel of a demonstrator, it wasn’t long before I was convinced to place an order,” says Marius Ursuta, logistics manager at SFS Flooring Supplies.

“We can easily fit our heaviest carpets on board and still have room to spare—something that wasn’t possible with our smaller vans,” Ursuta continues. “Before, we would do less than 10 deliveries a day but we anticipate with the Daily Hi-Matic we’ll be able to do 15, so it’s going to make such a difference. The Hi-Matic gearbox also makes the driving experience very comfortable, which is important as our drivers can spend a lot of time in busy London traffic.”
