Bartlett Tree Experts, an arboriculture specialist with more than 125 locations around the world, recently added five new Isuzu trucks to its UK-based fleet that will be based at its Beaconsfield, St. Albans, Sevenoaks, and Manchester offices. Bartlett has been an Isuzu customer since 1998 and now operates more than 45 vehicles from the marque. Three of the trucks are 3.5-tonne Grafter tipper trucks and the other two are 7.5-t tippers. All five trucks will haul wood chippers out to various worksites around the country along with two- or three-person teams.

Reliable, Fuel Efficient & “More Than Capable”

“The big appeal for us is that they are completely reliable, very rarely breaking down,” says Richard Trippett, manager of Bartlett Tree Experts’ UK and Ireland division. “Having operated Isuzus for an incredibly long time, we know that they provide us with the optimum fuel consumption returns that we expect, as well as giving us really good payload. This makes them more than capable of handling all the work that we do. We have also noticed that, progressively, the Isuzu truck range has really developed over the years and today, we believe that the Isuzu Grafter, for example, is close to being the absolute perfect truck for arboriculture operations at 3.5-tonne GVW.”

    Nuts & Bolts

The Isuzu Grafter N35.125(T) Tipper is a 4x2 rigid truck with a day cab, twin rear wheels, and factory-installed tipper bodywork, but there is also a dropside configuration available. It has a 2,480-millimetre wheelbase and has a gross vehicle weight and max trailer weight of 3,500 kilograms. It’s powered by an Isuzu RZ4E four-cylinder engine that produces 90 kilowatts (121 horsepower) and features a six-speed MVC6W manual synchromesh transmission.

The tipper body is made from fully galvanised steel and has an 18-mm alloy heavy-duty interlocking floor system, two-way hinged 400-mm high alloy tailboard with rubber stops, heavy-duty under-floor tie points, and rubber mounted body rests. Standard safety features include an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, vehicle stability control, anti-slip regulation, ECE-R29-compliant cab, and driver and passenger side airbags.
