Radbournes’ delivery fleet recently gained a third IVECO Stralis X-WAY tipper, and a fourth is soon to be delivered to the Hereford-based aggregate, concrete, and landscaping products supplier. “The X-WAYs carry out the work where we need to maximise payload and where ground clearance and traction are important, typically when we are delivering to construction sites,” explains Radbournes Managing Director Chris Radbourne. “They also cover a lot of road miles, so they must be very versatile in several different areas.”

Radbournes fleet also includes a new IVECO Eurocargo ML180E25K tipper fitted with a Bulkrite body for making urban deliveries.

    Stralis X-WAY 8x4 Tippers

The Stralis X-WAY AD340X46Z models are specified in IVECO’s OFF configuration, which offers the highest ground clearance and best performance for off-road works. Even so, the X-WAY exhibits impeccable on-road performance, as well, and Radbournes expects each X-WAY to cover around 80,000 miles (128,750 kilometres) on the road each year.

“Their off-road performance, including manoeuvrability, is good thanks to their notable tight turning circle,” Radbourne says. “They are easy to drive, comfortable, and with the 460-horsepower engine offer a good combination of power and fuel economy.”

Stralis X-WAY models can also be ordered in ON or ON+ configurations that favour on-road comfort and lighter off-road missions. Each 8x4 tipper is plated at 32 tonnes (35 U.S. tons) with a payload of 19,500 kilograms (43,000 pounds).

    Eurocargo For Home Deliveries

The Eurocargo tipper is often used for loose tip deliveries to trade and DIY customers. The 4x2 ML180E25K’s shorter wheelbase (3,690 millimetres; 145.2 inches) makes it easier for drivers to manoeuvre in tight locations, such as home driveways. And with a payload of 10,500 kg (23,150 lbs), the Eurocargo is able to haul a considerable amount of aggregate and landscaping products.
